NaPoWriMo ‘25 Day 30

I always feel moved typing out the title for this day each April. This year/season has been a whirlwind. I didn’t expect life to get in the way on the days that it did, but feel sorta proud for still pushing through. I told myself I needed to do a good job with the last poem, so here is my best attempt.

Our final prompt asked us to draw from Ed Skoog’s poem, “Grateful Dead Tapes,” and write a poem that also describes different times in which we’ve heard the same band or piece of music across our lifetime.

My all-time favourite, unchanging, can-never-get-tired-of-this-shit, song is Instant Crush by Daft Punk (featuring the beautiful Julian Casablancas). This song has stayed with me for the longest time and, I fear, is absolute perfection from the first note till the final. Every single day I wake up mad I didn’t write Instant Crush. This poem is a glimpse of its lifetime in mine.
