NaPoWriMo ‘25 Day 15
The prompt for day 15 was so interesting, and definitely one of my favourites so far! We had to derive inspiration from MC5’s warm-up man, Jesse Crawford’s, inspiring opening speech at the band’s concert in Japan in 1969. Along with this, we had to also draw from Jane Kenyon’s short, intimate poem named “The Shirt”, and like both the speech and the poem, write a poem that reads like a sermon/prayer, uses repetition and simple language, ends with a bang and, like Kenyon’s piece, is six-lined. I struggle with keeping my words short and quick, anyone who knows me irl, knows sometimes I have to politely be asked to shut up. So, in short, (sigh, unintended pun) this was a good practice! I’m actually quite pleased with this one!
